BIG THINGS IN BIG PACKAGES
A Glimpse of DG Oyan Villanueva of District 3790
Considered as a prime mover and a thespian in the business community in the City of Baguio, DG Roland ‘OYAN’ Villanueva is a living testament that BIG THINGS most often than not, come ALSO in BIG PACKAGES.
A true son of the north, his roots maybe traced from Batac, Ilocos Norte (Teofilo ‘Tatay’ Villanueva) and San Miguel Bulacan (+Genoveva Veneracion). Though born in Cabanatuan Nueva Ecija and spending his early years in the United States, he has established his home in Baguio City where he shares his dream and passions with spouse Carmencita ‘MENCY’ Villanueva and their children Josemaria Philip, Anthony Roland, Juan Miguel and Maria Bianca Olive.
DRIVE FOR EDUCATION and BUSINESS
Key to his success is his solid foundation in the different endeavors he is involved in. A true REALIST, hevalues the importance ofeducation before embarking in challenges.

As a medical technologist in the United States in his younger years, his degree from the Loma Linda University ofCalifornia coupled with specialized courses from University of California at Riverside and the San Bernardino Valley Collegehastaught him the importance of good health and the glaring need for such in our country.
In honing his entrepreneurial spirit, he took his masters degree from the Asian Institute of Management which servesas his tool in managing among others: a realty company managing dormitories, apartments and buildings covering the areas of Baguio, Makati, Quezon City, Malabon and Talavera; the Venus Park View Hotel; and of course, his five Shell Pilipinas Gas Stations. Giving into his love for the culinary arts, he was a student of the International School for Culinary Arts and Hotel Management and to this he accounts for opening a pastry shop and deli bar.
A MAN FOR OTHERS
Knowing full well the needs of his community, he serves as Treasurer for the Sagip Kapatid Foundation, a Board of Trustee of the Fernando-Rosa Bautista Foundation of the University of Baguio, a Board Member of the Boy Scout of the Philippines (Baguio City Council), a Barangay Kagawad for the Burnham- Legarda, Baguio City, a Host Parent of the Philippine Military Academy, a Director of the Philippine National Red Cross of Baguio City and an active member of both the Baguio Association of Restaurants and the Baguio Association of Hotels and Inns.
ROTARY EXPERIENCE
Though it may seem that he is young to hold such a position in the district, Oyan is a vicarious learner and has continually ate, breathed and lived the ways of Rotary ever since his induction to the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital in 1999. Throughout his stint, he has correspondingly held various positions in his home club as well as that for District 3790. Among these are: Chairmanship for Public Relations for District 3790, Chairperson for DISCON 2007 and DISTAS 2004, President during the Centennial of RI, Cluster Chairperson for International Service and the Rotary Foundation, Executive Secretary for the Philippine Rotary Forum of 2005; Directorship in the Club and Vocational Service of RCBSC and Team Leader for its Matching Grants and Visits with RC of Tokyo Rinkai, sister club of RCBSC.
Believing in the basic principles that ‘in giving, one receives’, he is presently a Major Donor of the Rotary Foundation.
THE IMPOSSIBLES TEAM and HOMECLUB SUPPORT
His decision of rendering service to District 3790 as governor came after much contemplation and talks (both solicited and unsolicited advice) from the brethren of the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital. During his PESETS, as a sign of support and solidarity during his incumbency, majority of the membership of the club was present.
DG Oyan is driven with the vision that the present ROTARY CLUBS be the ONLY CHOICE in terms of people joining socio-civic-volunteer groups in one’s area, he challenges presidents to provide the greatest ‘VALUE’ for those in it. Indeed as one guru once said, ‘the greater the value, the greater the FIT’. He asks not to re-invent the wheel of Rotary but rather to ‘BUILD on IT’.
As he embarks in his mission for RY 2009-2010, he is not only backed up by his IMPOSSIBLES TEAM but more particularly his home club and each and every member’s family for after all, it is where he started his great journey with Rotary. Though we exert all efforts towards therealization of this year’s theme, DGE Oyan simply wants the district to remember three words in realizing it --- NOW or NEVER! |
